Muscat – Companies under the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) are set to sign more than 30 agreements valued at over RO35mn with leading international technology firms.

These agreements will be finalised at the upcoming four-day COMEX Global Technology Show, scheduled to commence on Monday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Omantel, Oman Data Park, ITHCA Group, and OQ are among the OIA-affiliated companies participating in these strategic engagements. They will collaborate with global giants such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, and Virtusa. The scope of these agreements includes the establishment of data centres, as well as the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like cloud solutions and artificial intelligence.

Atef al Siyabi, Head of Information Management at OIA, stressed on the importance of these agreements, stating, “The authority and its companies place emphasis on the technology sector, which is pivotal to our vision and governmental directive towards cultivating a robust and sustainable digital economy.”

He noted that these initiatives are designed to integrate technology into local sectors through various programmes and plans.

Siyabi further noted that the OIA is dedicated to supporting startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the technology field through substantial initiatives and agreements. These are intended to foster innovation and growth within Oman’s tech sector.

Additionally, the OIA’s affiliated companies will engage in strategic partnerships and cooperative agreements with various governmental and private institutions and banks at COMEX. These collaborations aim to enhance the provision of digital services and innovative technical solutions, underscoring the OIA’s commitment to advancing Oman’s investment environment in the technology sector.
