Muscat – In a glittering ceremony on Tuesday, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) awarded various government units for their meticulous implementation of the ‘Institutional Excellence System’ in 2023.
The ministry hosted the Institutional Excellence Award ceremony to recognise the “significant strides made by these units in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness”, said Sheikh Mohammed bin al Waleed al Hinai, Project Director of the Individual Performance and Institutional Excellence System at the Ministry of Labour.
The government units are making huge efforts in imbibing a culture of continuous development within the workforce.
“The effective response of the state’s administrative apparatus to the system’s requirements in its initial years clearly reflects a robust desire to embrace best practices and achieve a significant paradigm shift,” stated Hinai.
While speaking about the progress made since the system’s inception in November 2022, he emphasised that the initiative had led to the analysis of 8,000 performance indicators and feedback from approximately 170,000 beneficiaries.
The evaluation process, he said, was focused on seven criteria including leadership, strategic planning, human capital, institutional culture, partnerships, resources, customer satisfaction, innovation, governance, environmental and societal impact.
Each criterion incorporated five distinct performance indicators to assess the government units thoroughly.
After a rigorous evaluation, eight government units stood out for their exceptional performance, including the Oman 2040 Vision Implementation Follow-up Unit; the Oman Investment Authority; the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology; South Sharqiyah governorate; the Central Bank of Oman; the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority; Muscat Municipality; and the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education.
Additionally, the ceremony recognised the best service provision outlets across governorates for their exceptional service in 2023.
H E Dr Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, highlighted the profound impact of the Institutional Excellence System. “This system marks the beginning of a relentless journey towards progress and prosperity, signifying a major stride in our administrative evolution and a benchmark for future advancements,” he said.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Ghosn bin Hilal al Alawi, Chairman of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution.
