Munich, Germany – H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met Oliver Zipse, CEO of German automobile manufacturer BMW, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Friday.
They discussed opportunities for partnership and cooperation in the transport sector, the exchange of manufacturing and technological knowledge and ways to develop smart infrastructure.
The Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the strong and friendly relations between Oman and Germany and the importance of developing economic cooperation and knowledge exchange in various fields.
Zipse said BMW is eager to expand its global presence and enhance cooperation with leading companies and governments in the automotive and logistics sectors, and that it is ready to explore investment opportunities in Oman and provide its expertise and advanced technologies in the field of luxury and sustainable cars.
The meeting came in the context of Oman’s efforts to enhance economic cooperation with various countries to develop the industrial sector.
FM meets Saudi, Kuwaiti counterparts
H E Sayyid Badr met Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
The ministers discussed relations between Oman and Saudi Arabia and ways to enhance and support these, and the latest regional developments, besides exchanging views on international issues of common interest.
H E Sayyid Badr also met Abdullah Ali al Yahya, Foreign Minister of Kuwait. The meeting saw an exchange of views on issues of regional and global concern, most notably the Palestinian issue and the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
The meeting was attended by H E Maitha Saif al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany, as well as Omani and Kuwait officials.
Additionally, H E Sayyid Badr met Jassem Mohamed al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of Gulf Cooperation Council, and discussed the progress of the GCC in a number of areas of joint Gulf action. They deliberated on the situation in the region, agreeing to support the peace process and efforts to immediately stop Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip.
