Muscat – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) is set to commemorate the fourth anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s accession to the throne with the 111 Fine Arts Exhibition.
Scheduled for January 14 at Rozna Hall in Airport Heights, the exhibition will be held under the auspices of H E Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, MCSY Undersecretary.
The exhibition is a tribute to His Majesty the Sultan’s accession to the throne, while celebrating the nation’s artistic heritage and contemporary creativity.
Ibrahim bin Saif Bani Araba, Assistant Director General of Arts at MCSY, emphasised that the exhibition is integral to Oman’s cultural strategy, fostering creativity, development and cultural identity. “It aims to support and showcase talents in the cultural field and enhance artistic and cultural communication between generations of Omani artists.”
The exhibition will feature 90 paintings by 25 distinguished artists, including those from the pioneering generation of the Omani fine art movement, which emerged in the 1970s, as well as subsequent generations that represent various artistic trends and schools. The event promises to be a confluence of traditional and contemporary art forms, reflecting the rich tapestry of Omani culture.
Among the notable participants are Anwar Sonya, Hassan Meer, Mohammed al Sayegh, Maryam al Zadjali and Hussain Obaid.
The exhibition will also feature works by Saud al Hunaini, Abdullah al Hunaini, Khamis al Hunaini, Abdel Nasser al Sayegh and Mohammed Fadel, and pay homage to the late artists Ayoub Malang, Muhammad Nizam and Moosa Omar.
