Muscat – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received Paul Huijts, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, on Tuesday.

The meeting was held within the framework of the guest’s visit to Muscat for political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The meeting focused on the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip and stressed the need of continuing international endeavours and pressure for de-escalation and an immediate ceasefire to ensure flow of relief and humanitarian aid.

The two sides stressed the need to stop targeting civilians and innocent people. They also underscored the importance of adhering to the rules of international law when addressing the conflict and ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories on the basis of the two-state solution.

Political talks session

The 29th session of political talks between Oman and Netherlands was held on Tuesday.

The Omani side was headed by H E Sheikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Foreign Ministry, while the Dutch side was headed by Paul Huijts.

During the session, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and affirmed their keenness to enhance cooperation in all fields.

They discussed several regional and international matters of mutual interest.
