Dhofar – The whole of Oman and the region’s attention turns towards Dhofar and its khareef season every year as July approaches.

With monsoons hitting the governorate early this year, the plains and the mountains have already started bearing a coat of green. To make this khareef a memorable one, Dhofar Municipality launched a marketing campaign – Khareef Dhofar – on Tuesday evening in Salalah.

At a press conference, Dr Ahmed Mohsin Mohammed al Ghassani, chairman of Dhofar Municipality and chairman of the Main Committee of Khareef Dhofar, outlined the main activities of the campaign.
Ghassani informed that the municipality has prepared well to equip all tourist sites with the necessary facilities, in addition to organising special events under the campaign.

“The aim of Khareef Dhofar is to give a distinctive tourist experience to all visitors. Dhofar is a well-known tourist destination and we have a clear vision and plan for structuring the marketing campaign for this season and seasons in the future,” he said.

Ghassani added that this year’s events will provide an exceptional experience for tourists. “Besides breathtaking nature and the weather that one can experience in the governorate, we are organising several recreational and family-friendly events, providing an opportunity for everyone to have a memorable experience.”

For the campaign, the municipality has worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and implemented unified strategies as a team along with the partners from government agencies, the private sector, and the community.

Heritage Village in Al Haffa
Activities in the village will reflect Dhofar and its environment, including theatre and live performances of Omani culture, restaurants serving Omani meals, heritage markets, and an exhibition of Omani beekeepers and craftsmen.

Ateen Square
It will include a consumer exhibition, a space for electronic games, laser shows and drone displays, besides a mobile theatre and several restaurants and cafes.

Awqad Public Garden
Displays will be set up to market Omani brands, a section set up for games, light trees, a haunted hotel, a maze game, an open-air cinema for children, and several restaurants and cafes.

Salalah Public Garden
The park will include various exhibitions for the family, a frankincense village, acrobatic shows, gift and pottery stores, a theatre for various events, restaurants and children’s games.

Salalah Eat
This event will be held at Hawana Salalah, offering multiple dining options. Visitors can try different restaurants including al fresco dining carts. Activities will include family and theatre shows. Well-known artists will perform live shows, including comedy performances.

Oman Automobile Association
The association will present a karting circuit, an SUV show, motorcycle shows and sports car shows.

Archery Competition
Organised by Dhofar Municipality to highlight an aspect of heritage, the competition will showcase talented archers.

Camel Competition
Several camel racing competitions will be held attracting a large number of enthusiasts.
