Muscat – Muscat Municipality has awarded a project to design and construct a dual carriageway from the roundabout of Khoudh District 6 to Gate No 2 of Sultan Qaboos University.

The project will help ease traffic congestion in the area. Al Khoudh has seen traffic increase in recent times, particularly around Sultan Qaboos University, the municipality stated.

‘A dual carriageway will ensure smooth traffic flow in the area which has educational and health facilities, commercial establishments and residential neighbourhoods. Project completion is expected in the last quarter of 2023.’

The 3.5km project includes construction of two lanes in each direction, footpaths of a length of 7km and side barriers.

As part of the project, the existing roundabout in Khoud District 6 will be converted into a four-way intersection with traffic signals, in addition to construction of a new intersection at the entrance of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.
