Omani citizens can now use Civil ID to cross land ports: ROP

Muscat – Citizens are now allowed to use the Civil ID cards to cross the land ports adjacent to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as it was earlier the case, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, ROP said, ‘The Royal Oman Police draws the attention of the citizens that it is now possible to use the Civil ID to cross the land ports adjacent to the United Arab Emirates.’

Additionally, ROP said that nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries can use their respective ID cards to enter Oman through various ports.

The use of Civil IDs had earlier been stopped due to COVID-19. “We will return to the system of using the ID card to move between the land ports of countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council. This has been agreed upon with the Inspector General of Police and Customs,” H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health said on Wednesday.
