Muscat – Oman has achieved 6th global position in the tax policy indicator within the government efficiency factor, according to data from the statistical center of the Gulf Cooperation Council based on the 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook issued by the International Institute for Management Development.
This milestone highlights the competitiveness of the Omani tax environment and its effectiveness in boosting investment attractiveness. Across the wider region, GCC member states secured leading global positions in several key competitiveness indicators, reflecting robust economic and institutional performance.
The UAE ranked first globally in international trade and economic performance, while Qatar secured second place worldwide in the labor market indicator. Bahrain achieved third position globally in price stability, Saudi Arabia ranked third in infrastructure development, and Kuwait attained third place in public finance. These results demonstrate the ongoing success of structural reforms implemented by GCC nations to enhance business environments and achieve sustainable development.
