Muscat – The United Arab Emirates will celebrate its 50th National Day – the golden jubilee of its founding – on Thursday. Oman and the UAE share a deep-rooted bond and continue to build on their historical brotherly relationship by forging new ties, both politically and economically.

On Wednesday, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik sent a congratulatory message to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on the occasion.

His Majesty the Sultan congratulated and conveyed his best wishes to Sheikh Khalifa for good health, happiness and a long life, and prayed to God Almighty so more can be achieved for the brotherly Emirati people in terms of progress, advancement and prosperity under his wise leadership.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Sheikh Khalifa said that the UAE’s founding fathers embraced sustainable development as a guiding methodology to build up a modern nation that derives its human, socio-economic and cultural clout from robust constitutional, organisational and structural tenets.

In a statement to Nation Shield, the UAE Armed Forces’ magazine on the occasion of the golden jubilee, Sheikh Khalifa said, “In line with the ‘Principles of the 50th’, the UAE will continue to steadily pursue a solid ecosystem of well-established values and principles, with human capital lying at the heart of the UAE’s Strategy for the Future.”

He affirmed that the pursuit of regional and global peace and maintaining the principles of good neighbourliness will continue to be the mainstay of the country’s foreign policy. “Strengthening cooperation among GCC states at the political, economic, social and security levels will remain a top Emirati priority. Within this context, we will continue to stand by our fraternal GCC states in the face of all threats to their stability, unity and territorial integrity.”

Recently, Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Dubai and discussed the strong historic ties between the two countries and explored ways of strengthening cooperation.

Sayyid Badr stressed on the brotherly relations between the two countries and conveyed his best wishes to the UAE for further progress and prosperity under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa.
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the deep-rooted strategic relations between the UAE and Oman, supported by the two countries’ leaderships, stressing his keenness to consolidate and develop cooperation in all fields.
