Entries called for online creative writing competition

With the aim of encouraging creativity in literary work, Bhavalaya Art and Culture Foundation is organising the Online International Creative Writing (OICW) contest for those above 15 years of age irrespective of nationality.

The topic for the contest conducted in English is ‘Life During COVID-19 Pandemic Days’, and according to the organisers entries should be within 3,500 (maximum) words. They can be presented as simple articles, short stories or personal opinions. Entries should be mailed to [email protected] before August 17.

“We are very excited to have this event to encourage the art of creative writing and this is done to bring out the imagination and creativeness of people. There are exciting prizes for the best three writings – R10,000, R7,500 and R5,000. All participants will be given appreciation certificates,” said Vindhya Singh Ghosh, coordinator of the OICW.

The essays will be evaluated by an eminent panel of judges including academicians and artists.

Dr J Retnakumar, founder and chairman of Bhavalaya said, “We are now experiencing a challenging phase in our lives. The pandemic days are slowly creeping into our personal and professional lives and people are getting depressed. Here lies the relevance and importance of this creative writing contest, where the participants will turn their imagination into innovative ideas which can help people overcome the present difficulties.”
