To keep Oman clean, Sur Elite team, in cooperation with Sur Municipality, is conducting a series of clean-up campaigns. The most recent one was held last Friday on Sur beach and some areas of the village with the participation of over 30 volunteers.
Speaking to Muscat Daily Nasser Musallam al Araimi, head of Sur Elite team, said the volunteers collected 150 bags full of waste during the evening event.
“We are planning to conduct ten cleaning campaigns in the southeastern part of the country. We started the campaign in Ras al Hadd in South Sharqiyah in February,” Araimi said.
“The second campaign was held in Afta area in the wilayat of Sur and the third event was held in Wadi Tawi, Sur, on March 7 to celebrate the World and Arab Water Day.”
The clean-up conducted on Sur beach was the fourth one.
Araimi said his team’s aim is to spread awareness on cleanliness, the importance of physical activity among members of the local community, and promote tourist sites in the area.
Araimi said that the Sur Elite team will continue to organise similar events to promote domestic tourism.
“We hope that cleaning campaigns will be conducted in all the wilayats of the sultanate in order to preserve the beauty of Oman. We call on citizens and residents to participate in such voluntary events.”
