Uptake of voice services increased by 60 per cent, while home internet data usage went up by 39 percent in March when compared to February.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) released a set of statistics on Wednesday showing an exponential increase in the use of telecommunication services in the sultanate after social distancing measures were adopted to fight COVID-19.
According to TRA, voice services for March increased by 60 per cent, fixed and mobile data by 37 per cent, home internet data by 39 per cent and mobile phone data by 23 per cent.
Online streaming services uptake has also gone up manifolds with Netflix consumption increasing by 140 per cent.
