599 COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths

The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced registration of 53 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. This brings the total cases in Oman to 599 which includes four deaths and 109 recoveries.  

Efforts to help private sector 

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working with government and private agencies to address the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the fallout of low oil prices and the overall impact on the private sector.  

Tourism sector meet 

H E Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Tourism, held a videoconferencing with a group of tourism companies and hotels to reduce the  effects of COVID-19 on the tourism sector.   

Labour rights 

The General Federation of Oman Trade Union has come across many violations of the rights of nationals and expatriate workforce in the private sector. It will deal with those violations in coordination with authorities. 

Food shipment arrives from Iran 

Marafi stated that Suwaiq port received the first shipment of food from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. It confirmed that the shipment will enhance food stock in the sultanate and maintain price stability. It also thanked the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for speedy inspection and clearance of  the shipments at Port Sultan Qaboos.
