The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) is continuing with the operations to combat the threat of desert locusts in North and South Batinah governorates. Speaking to Muscat Daily an official at MoAF said, “Specialised teams in the wilayat of Mussanah in South Batinah sprayed pesticides in an area of 480 acres last Friday and Saturday.”
He added, “Such operations will continue to combat the threat of desert locusts in the villages of North and South Batinah governorates.”
The ministry has urged everyone to cooperate with it for the benefit of all. It urges keepers of livestock and honeybees to take caution and not to transport bees and cattle during these days.
“MoAF is making efforts to find out hot spots, reduce the reproduction of desert locusts and reduce the economic damage they cause to agricultural crops,” added the official.
