Five meritorious Indian students from Oman who aspire to be engineers will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity later this month – to be trained by Anand Kumar, founder of India’s famed educational programme Super 30.
Kumar, an Indian educator and a mathematician, is known worldwide for his Super 30 programme in Patna, Bihar which coaches underprivileged children to face the entrance examinations of Indian Institutes of Technology and other premier engineering institutions. Kumar is coming to Oman as part of an initiative of Global IITians, a new coaching institute in Wadi Kabir.
The institute will cater to the needs of students who are preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams (classes 11 and 12). In addition, Global IITians will provide foundation classes for grade 7-10 (CBSE) children.
The five students will be chosen under a talent hunt scheme to be personally tutored by Kumar, who will come to Muscat later this month to evaluate the students.
Addressing the media, Adil Patel, director of Global IITians, said, “There is a dearth of good coaching classes in Oman for students who want to opt for careers in engineering and medicine.
“At our institute, we will train students under the able guidance of excellent tutors. Also five talented students will specifically be trained by Kumar. We already have three centres in Qatar with over 1,200 students, and Kumar was there in January.”
He added that along with the five students, Global IITians will also have scholarship programmes for its students.
“We want to be able to support aspiring students achieve their dreams and intend to do everything possible in our purview to accomplish this goal. With the guidance of Kumar, we will be able to spot some of the best engineers of the future,” said Patel.
The talent hunt for the five students will be held from February 7 to 19, he added. Students who are in classes 6 to 12 (CBSE) can register for the Super30 Talent Hunt by visiting http://tiny.cc/Super-30_TalentHunt
