For the first time in the sultanate, specialists at the National Heart Center of The Royal Hospital succeeded in removing the Lobus inferior pulmonis from a female patient through a new technology called ‘single-port thoracoscopy technique’.  

It was performed by a group of surgeons comprising Dr Diego Gonzalez in cooperation with Dr Ahem Abdulwahab al Bulushi, cardiothoracic surgeon at The Royal Hospital. The surgery procedure keeps pace with the latest treatment methods at the international level.  

The surgical intervention had many features mainly limited complications and the patient getting on with daily schedule after three days.
