Bike trips in most places of Oman would be perfect if planned during the winter season. The picturesque country with its diverse landscapes is an alluring destination. To promote these touristic aspects of the sultanate, a group of Omani bikers pick a place of their choice and organise around three trips every year. This year too, the group will be organising a trip to South Sharqiyah on December 20.
The group has organised the trip in cooperation with the administration of South Sharqiyah governorate under the Ministry of Tourism. Titled, ‘Discover South Sharqiyah’, the trip this year will see 60 bikers.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Faisal Amour al Hanashi, a member of the Oman bikers group, said, “Sixty bikers from GCC countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman will participate in the tour. The bikers will ride through various parts of South Sharqiyah such as Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan and Sur. Over the two days of the trip, we plan to travel 600km.”
Hanashi said that through this trip the group seeks to highlight the beautiful tourist places located in South Sharqiyah. “On Friday, December 20, we will visit some touristic places in the wilayat of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali, Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan. We will also visit forts, aflaj and mosques. On December 21, we will cover Sur. We plan to visit Sunaysilah Fort, Al Ayjah Bridge and the ship factory.”
The first such trip was organised in 2017, said Hanashi. “We began our endeavour to promote tourism and called it ‘All for Oman’. We want to continue with this campaign and want more Omani youth to join in. We urge motorists to cooperate with us and thank the Royal Oman Police and all others who have helped us during the trips,” said Hanashi.
