Muscat – The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Batinah has intensified its field inspections to ensure market stability, price transparency and the uninterrupted availability of essential goods, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding consumer rights throughout Ramadan when demand goes up considerably.

Dr Abdulhakim bin Abdullah Al Ghailani, Director General of Consumer Protection in North Batinah, conducted an extensive inspection tour of several markets across the governorate to assess trading conditions during Ramadan.

The visit formed part of increased supervisory efforts aimed at ensuring the steady supply of essential and Ramadan-related commodities, monitoring price stability and verifying suppliers’ compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The inspection focused on confirming adequate stock levels, maintaining product quality and ensuring that consumer needs are met without disruption throughout the holy month.

During the tour, Al Ghailani reviewed the overall readiness of markets and supply chains. Observations indicated that sufficient quantities of essential goods were available, with no signs of shortages or supply constraints. He emphasised the continuation of daily market monitoring and swift handling of any violations or observations.

The inspection also covered suppliers’ adherence to the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations, including the clear display of prices and issuing invoices. Officials noted that these measures are vital to the transparency in commercial transactions and reinforcing consumer confidence.

The Directorate General affirmed that it will continue implementing intensive inspection campaigns in coordination with relevant government entities, particularly during Ramadan, to safeguard market stability and protect consumer rights.

Consumers were urged to cooperate with the authorities and report any violations or irregularities through approved communication channels, as part of collective efforts to ensure a safe, stable and transparent market environment during the holy month.
