Muscat – Tax Authority has issued a formal notification to the public regarding the mandatory verification of products subject to excise tax.

In a move to ensure market integrity and consumer safety, the Authority has specified that all such goods with the exception of sweetened and carbonated beverages, must bear a valid digital tax stamp. Consumers are officially advised to utilise the Taakad mobile application to authenticate these stamps prior to completing any purchase. The application enables users to scan the digital mark on product packaging to confirm its legitimacy and compliance with national tax standards.

This measure serves as a critical regulatory tool to prevent the circulation of uncertified goods and to maintain transparency within the Sultanate’s retail sector.
