Muscat – Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has unveiled an official symbol for the Omani rial, marking a significant national milestone aimed at reinforcing the currency’s identity and enhancing its visibility across global financial systems.

CBO said the unified symbol will help standardise the way the currency is represented in financial, commercial and digital platforms worldwide.

Ahmed al Musalmi, Governor of CBO, said the adoption of the symbol “represents a strategic step that enhances the sultanate’s position as a promising financial centre and will contribute to consolidating the Omani rial’s presence on financial, commercial and digital platforms worldwide”.
