Muscat – The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has announced an extension for redeeming expired banknotes issued prior to June 2020. Banknote holders can now redeem their expired notes through all banks in the sultanate.

The new deadline for redemption is the end of the working day on Monday, September 21, 2026. The CBO has emphasised that no claims will be accepted after this date.

This extension provides additional time for individuals and businesses to exchange old banknotes, ensuring a smooth transition and continued financial stability across the country.
