Muscat – Ministry of Social Development has launched a specialised unit to support and protect male victims of human trafficking, expanding services previously available only through the ‘Protection House’ for women and children.

The new facility provides a secure and confidential environment, offering medical care, nutritional support, recreational activities and tailored psychological and social assistance.

Rehabilitation and reintegration programmes form a core part of the initiative, enabling victims to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.

The move reflects Oman’s continued efforts to combat human trafficking in coordination with government entities, civil society organisations and international partners. It also aligns with international conventions on victim protection and global best practices.

The Social Protection Department, operating under the ministry, plays a central role in the initiative. In addition to assisting male victims of trafficking, it provides care for children exposed to abuse, violence or exploitation and for women facing domestic violence.
