Muscat – Oman has welcomed France’s decision to recognise the State of Palestine, announced by President Emmanuel Macron at an international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and implementation of the two-state solution held in New York on Monday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said it is an additional and encouraging step towards securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Oman expressed hope that other countries will follow the example of the majority of the international community in supporting the two-state solution, in line with international law and United Nations resolutions.
