Muscat – Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance (OAAAQA) will commence the first phase of the National System for School Performance Evaluation on Monday.
The pilot will involve 100 public and private schools across three educational governorates – Muscat, South Batinah and Dakhliyah – during the 2025-26 academic year.

In a statement, Dr Jokha bint Abdullah al Shukaili, CEO of OAAAQA, described the system as a qualitative leap in Oman’s educational development. She highlighted that the system is tailored to the Omani context, aligning with Oman Vision 2040, the Education Law, and the national education strategy.
“The system empowers schools to accurately identify their strengths and areas for improvement, promoting transparency and objectivity in evaluating educational performance,” Dr Jokha said.
She added that the initiative is designed to directly impact multiple facets of the educational ecosystem. Students will benefit from enhanced learning opportunities, teachers will receive constructive feedback and professional development support, and parents will gain confidence in the effectiveness of schools. The system also aims to align educational outcomes with national development priorities and strengthen Oman’s standing in regional and international education indicators.
Dr Jokha explained that the evaluation will be carried out by trained national teams of external reviewers following precise professional standards. This approach ensures fairness and equal opportunity for all participating schools while providing reliable data to guide improvements.
“The evaluation is a strategic tool for developing school education in both public and private sectors. It measures the real impact of educational processes on student learning and transforms results into actionable plans that enhance school efficiency and quality.”
