Muscat – Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has introduced a new specialisation within its flagship Mu’tamid on-the-job training programme, aimed at equipping Omani law graduates with skills aligned to the evolving needs of the job market.
The legal programme will enable participants to earn the International Professional Lawyers’ Qualification, recognised by the UK’s Solicitors Regulation Authority. The qualification includes knowledge-based assessments, along with oral and written examinations.
Fahmi bin Zaher al Mazrouei, acting head of Human Resources and Change at OIA, said the move reflects the authority’s strategic focus on developing specialised national talent. “The legal sector is a cornerstone of the sultanate’s business and investment environment. This programme reflects OIA’s ongoing commitment to supporting national initiatives that equip Omani talent with the practical skills and knowledge required for the workforce,” he said.
The programme seeks to improve career prospects for participants while building a pool of qualified national professionals to support Oman’s investment and legal systems.
Since its launch in 2023, Mu’tamid has attracted about 75 candidates pursuing qualifications such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and cybersecurity certifications.
Eligibility for the new legal programme includes a bachelor’s degree in law with a minimum GPA of 2.7 for graduates of 2023, 2024 and 2025. Applicants must also have less than three years of work experience. Registration will remain open till September 29, 2025 followed by a written test and personal interview.
By adding a legal programme, OIA aims to diversify expertise within Mu’tamid, strengthen the professional talent base, and contribute to Oman’s long-term economic development.
