Muscat – Omani jiu-jitsu athletes secured two medals and recorded strong performances at the 2026 AJP Tour Asia Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held in Abu Dhabi from September 4 to 6.

The championship brought together more than 2,000 athletes representing around 90 countries, giving the Omani contingent the opportunity to compete against athletes from international clubs and academies.

Abdullah Khamis Hamood Al Farsi delivered one of Oman’s standout performances, winning the bronze medal and finishing third in the Men’s Professional Black Belt Under-62kg division.

Al Farsi progressed through a demanding series of bouts before reaching the semifinals, competing at a high level against strong international opposition.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Al Farsi said the championship provided valuable experience and motivation to continue developing his performance.

“I am very happy to win the bronze medal in such a competitive championship. The competition was tough, with athletes from different countries and strong international experience. Reaching the semifinals and finishing on the podium gives me greater motivation to continue working hard, improve my performance and represent Oman at a higher level in future competitions.”

Mohammed Khamis Al Farsi also secured a podium finish, claiming the silver medal and finishing second in the Professional division after a strong run through the competition.

The Omani contingent also recorded notable performances from Nasser Mohsen Al Farsi and Assad Hadid Al Alawi, who won competitive bouts and advanced to the semifinals in their respective divisions. Both athletes ultimately finished fourth, narrowly missing out on medals.

The Abu Dhabi championship provided the Omani athletes with valuable international competition experience, allowing them to test their skills against competitors representing different countries, clubs and academies.

For Al Farsi, the bronze-medal finish was another opportunity to measure his progress at an international level and identify areas for further improvement.

“This result is an encouragement for me to work harder. Every international competition teaches you something new, and competing against different athletes helps you understand where you need to improve. My goal is to continue developing and achieve stronger results for Oman in future championships,” he added.

The results in Abu Dhabi highlighted the growing participation of Omani athletes in international jiu-jitsu competitions and provided further competitive experience for the national contingent.
