Muscat – Ministry of Labour has announced that 17,228 Omanis were employed or enrolled in training-to-employment programmes during the first half of 2025 representing 38.28% of its annual employment plan target.

According to the ministry’s detailed indicators released on Tuesday, 12,936 individuals were employed by the end of June. The private sector absorbed 10,620 of these hires from the total target of 24,000, compared to 2,316 in the public sector from a target of 10,000, indicating an overall completion rate of 38%.

The training-to-employment programme saw 4,292 hires in this period, against a combined target of 11,000, recording a 39% achievement rate. Of these, 3,819 were in the private sector and 473 in the public sector.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing workforce localisation policies and improving employment outcomes for Omani nationals in both public and private sectors. It stated that it continues to coordinate with sector-specific skill units and relevant authorities to meet national workforce goals as part of the broader Oman Vision 2040 strategy.
