Muscat – Ministry of Labour has announced that all workers – Omanis and expatriates – engaged in designated professions in the logistics sector must obtain a professional practice licence to continue working in the sultanate, effective September 1, 2025.

This move is part of the ministry’s efforts to regulate the labour market, raise workforce efficiency and ensure professional standards are upheld across all sectors, it stated.

The licence will be a prerequisite for renewal of work permits. No work permit will be issued or renewed after the deadline without submission of the approved licence issued by the Sectoral Skills Unit for the Logistics Sector.

Professionals covered under the directive include refrigerated truck drivers (tractor-trailer), water tanker drivers (tractor-trailer), tractor head drivers (trailer), waste transport truck drivers, food delivery representatives and food delivery supervisor.

Applications for the licence must be submitted online via the official platform of the Sectoral Skills Unit at https://issu.ola.om/sign-up

The ministry warned that establishments failing to comply with the new requirements will face legal and administrative consequences as per existing laws and regulations.

‘The announcement is binding on all firms operating in the sultanate and all individuals currently engaged or intending to engage in the listed professions.’
