Muscat – A blue whale that became stranded near Al Dwanij Beach in Shinas has been safely returned to the sea, according to the Environment Authority in North Batinah.

Specialised teams from the Environment Department in the governorate responded after receiving a report of the whale on the shore. Due to low tide conditions, the situation was monitored until the tide rose.

The whale, measuring about 8m in length, was successfully guided back to deeper waters on Friday in good condition.

The Environment Authority praised the efforts of its rescue teams in ensuring the whale’s safe return to its natural habitat.
