Omani pride and culture shine at vibrant festival

Muscat – Under the patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultanate of Oman hosted a spectacular student festival themed ‘Oman’s Renewed Renaissance’ at Al Fateh Square in Muscat on Saturday.

The event was graced by the presence of Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, the spouse of His Majesty the Sultan, and featured a vibrant display of Omani culture and national pride.

As His Majesty Sultan Haitham’s motorcade approached the venue, around 1,800 citizens and folklore troupes from various governorates lined up on the streets, extending a warm welcome to their leader. The procession included the Royal Music Band, camel riders, and knights, who chanted words of loyalty and expressed their gratitude for His Majesty’s leadership and guidance. The air was filled with pride as the people of Oman gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Upon his arrival at Al Fateh Square, His Majesty was greeted by Dr Madiha Ahmed al Shibani, Minister of Education, and Sheikh Saba’a bin Hamdan al Sa’adi, Secretary General of National Celebrations.

As His Majesty ascended the Royal dais, the Royal Anthem was played, marking the formal commencement of the festival.

The first highlight of the celebration was a captivating ‘Welcoming Tableau’, which depicted the joy and excitement of the Omani people in celebration of this national milestone.

The second tableau, ‘Knowledge’, showcased the fundamental role of education in Oman’s development, underscoring the importance of innovation and research as part of the broader objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.

The third tableau, ‘A Promise Fulfilled’, symbolised the progress made during the first five years of Oman’s Renewed Renaissance. It reflected the government’s focus on sectoral advancements and the sustained efforts towards nation-building and prosperity.

Next, the ‘Oman, the Land of Peace’ tableau illustrated Oman’s commitment to Shura (consultation) and peaceful governance, core principles that have shaped the country’s identity and fostered strong, harmonious relations among its citizens. The fourth tableau was a tribute to the rich cultural heritage and history of Oman.

The fifth, ‘Oman Across Ages’, featured a diverse group of citizens, including students and members of various governorates, who showcased the country’s traditional folk arts and heritage. This display expressed the deep love and loyalty of the Omani people to their homeland and their steadfast commitment to preserving their cultural legacy for future generations.

The grand finale of the festival was a powerful tribute to His Majesty the Sultan, expressing heartfelt allegiance and gratitude for his leadership. The Omani people pledged to continue advancing under his wise guidance, charting a path towards further progress and sustainable growth in Oman’s Renewed Renaissance.

The festival, held in honour of the 5th anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day, was attended by members of the Royal Family, dignitaries, government officials, military leaders, diplomats, and thousands of citizens. In total, around 8,000 participants from across the sultanate contributed to making this national celebration a resounding success.

This remarkable event highlighted the unity and pride of the Omani people as they look towards a future defined by continued prosperity and development under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
