Muscat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has issued a tender for consulting services aimed at developing public facilities in the Bandar al Khairan eco-tourism area in Muscat.
The initiative seeks to enhance the appeal of Bandar al Khairan, which is known for its rich marine life, vibrant coral reefs and abundant mangrove trees that serve as a habitat for lobsters, shrimp and other marine species. Visitors can enjoy underwater experiences, swimming alongside tropical fish and exploring the stunning marine ecosystem through crystal-clear waters that offer unparalleled visibility.
The deadline for bid submission is December 25. The ministry aims to attract more tourists and provide essential services to enhance the visitor experience in this picturesque location.
In 2020, MHT verified and documented ancient engravings on rocks in Bandar al Khairan.
The rock inscriptions are on three sheer rock faces. The first is an inscription depicting bulls, (perhaps plowing), a dog and a man. The second is a carving of an animal, perhaps a bull or gazelle. The third engraving is of two human beings.
The ministry has documented these engravings and recorded the site as one of the archaeological interest in Muscat.
