Muscat – Asyad Group has commenced construction on Muscat Airport Free Zone, a key project aimed at boosting the infrastructure and positioning Oman as a global hub for business and foreign investment.

The first phase of the project includes land preparation, laying an internal road network and setting up public service facilities. An administrative office complex is also planned, with its development expected to involve private sector partnerships.

The free zone aims to attract regional and international companies, financial institutions, trading firms and startups by providing a modern business environment. This will help strengthen the zone’s position as a global business centre, offering world-class logistical support and encouraging foreign direct investment.

Located next to Muscat International Airport, the free zone’s strategic position will enhance its role in Oman’s logistics network. It will connect land and sea ports, Khazaen Dry Port and other free and special economic zones through Asyad’s integrated logistics system. This integration will boost air freight for time-sensitive products and e-commerce shipments.

The project is part of Asyad’s vision to create a comprehensive logistics centre with global air cargo capabilities. It is offering tax and customs exemptions, besides trading facilities, to make the zone a business hub within Muscat and a prominent investment destination in the region.

Faisal bin Ali al Balushi, Senior Manager at Muscat Airport Free Zone, emphasised that Asyad is working closely with private sector partners to develop this strategic project. “This initiative reflects our commitment to building an air logistics centre in Oman, driving economic growth and opening new opportunities for local and international businesses,” he said.

Balushi also highlighted the fact that the zone offers promising investment opportunities for the Omani private sector, allowing local companies to benefit from its competitive advantages.
