Muscat – The ‘Etalat Ibri’ (Ibri View) project in the Al Salif area of wilayat Ibri in Dhahirah has been recognised as the best proposed development project in a competition organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

This accolade underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the standard of living across Oman’s governorates, promoting sustainable development and economic sectors.

Najeeb bin Ali Rawas, Governor of Dhahirah, said that the award-winning Ibri View project signifies the governorate’s commitment to achieving sustainable development objectives aligned with the goals of the Oman Vision 2040.

“The project is poised to deliver significant social and economic benefits to the local community, including job creation, economic growth stimulation, infrastructure enhancement, and community engagement. It is expected to elevate the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike,” he informed.

Rawas added that the project will establish Ibri as a prominent commercial and entertainment hub, enhancing its identity. He noted that environmental considerations were integral to the project’s design phase, incorporating technologies that promote quality and sustainability such as renewable energy, smart infrastructure, green construction, and sustainable transportation.

To come up on a total area of 2mn sqm, the project has been earmarked at a total investment of RO183mn, of which RO10mn would be allocated for the initial phase by the Ministry of Finance. This funding underscores the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure elements and fostering sustainable economic growth in the governorates.

“The first phase of the project, expected to be completed within two years, aims to integrate diverse uses to enhance social interaction and economic vitality, creating numerous investment opportunities that ensure project sustainability while respecting local culture.”

The development will include three hotels, a shopping centre, residential areas, commercial spaces, and recreational facilities such as gardens and a youth centre.

“It is anticipated that the project will generate direct and indirect job opportunities, stimulate various sectors including retail, construction, maintenance, services, hospitality and support small and medium enterprises,” said Rawas hopefully.
