Muscat – A total of 774 water licences were issued in May 2024, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR).

In a statement, MAFWR said, ‘The licences issued include requests for registering wells, dams and aflaj, for drilling wells, and development projects in various governorates.’

According to MAFWR data, the maximum number of licences – 490 – were issued in Buraimi, followed by 153 in Dakhliyah, 125 each in North Batinah and Dhahirah, 88 in North Sharqiyah, 84 in Muscat, 80 in South Batinah, 40 in South Sharqiyah, 11 in Dhofar, 10 in Musandam and nine in Al Wusta.
