Muscat – The Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre (OAC), affiliated with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will host Muscat Arbitration and Mediation Days from December 7 to 9, bringing together international experts and specialists to discuss developments in arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

Details of the event, the Muscat Arbitration Competition 2026 and a training workshop were announced at a press briefing on Monday at the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs in Muscat.

Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al Mandhari, CEO of OAC, said the event is part of efforts to strengthen the sultanate’s position as a hub for dialogue and expertise in arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

According to Al Mandhari, the conference will provide a platform for experts and practitioners from Oman and abroad to exchange experiences and examine emerging practices. The 2026 edition will feature broader participation, with public and private institutions contributing specialised panel discussions alongside OAC sessions.

The Muscat Arbitration Competition 2026, an annual commercial arbitration moot for law schools, is part of the centre’s efforts to develop young legal talent and strengthen students’ practical skills in advocacy, arbitration and legal research.

The competition runs throughout the year, with the case released in July and August, written memoranda submitted and assessed in October, and oral hearings held in November. The final and awards ceremony will take place during Muscat Arbitration and Mediation Days in December.

Five MoUs signed

Five memoranda of understanding (MoU) were also signed between OAC and Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Visit Oman, Oman Society of Engineers, Decree and international education partner company Resolve.

The agreements aim to expand strategic partnerships, facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen institutional cooperation in support of Oman’s arbitration and mediation ecosystem.

These also seek to widen the network of institutions promoting arbitration and mediation as effective dispute-resolution mechanisms and as tools supporting Oman’s business and investment environment.
