Muscat – The wilayat of Shalim and Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar governorate inaugurated a new water desalination plant today, capable of producing 1,500 cubic meters of water per day.

The opening ceremony was presided over by H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, the Governor of Dhofar.

The station will contribute to enhancing the development requirements in the wilayat of Shalim and Hallaniyat Islands by meeting the community’s water needs, particularly in areas like Haqqa, Zakher, Ajarit, and their surroundings. By providing a local source of water, it eliminates the need for transporting water via tankers over long distances. Moreover, it promises to improve the quality and efficiency of water delivery.

Funded by PDO in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, this project is part of PDO’s social responsibility initiatives aimed at enhancing social services and supporting economic and developmental projects across Oman.
