Muscat – Oman Housing Bank (OHB) sanctioned housing loans exceeding RO86mn in the first half of 2023. This disbursement enabled over 2,000 families across the sultanate to realise their dreams of home ownership.
Disbursing loans through its branches nationwide, the Rustaq branch led the effort with 515 loans, followed closely by the Muscat branch with 502 loans. Sohar, Nizwa and Salalah branches sanctioned 276, 267 and 92 loans respectively, while branches in Sur, Buraimi, Ibra and Khasab together facilitated over 360 loans.
“The surge in Oman’s housing sector aligns seamlessly with our broader vision for urban development and progress. Our endeavour mirrors Oman Vision 2040’s core principle: fostering modern urban communities while enhancing the lives of Omanis across the nation,” said Moosa Masoud al Jadidi, CEO of OHB.
Since its establishment in 1977 through the end of 2022, OHB has facilitated 52,000 loans, cumulatively valued at over RO1.4bn.
“Our core objective remains elevating living standards. By offering subsidised housing loans to eligible citizens, we’re fulfilling the government’s mandate and actively contributing to the development of the housing sector,” Jadidi said.
