Minister reviews Dibba-Khasab road, other strategic projects in Musandam

Muscat – H E Said bin Hamood al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, inspected key transportation projects in Musandam governorate on Tuesday.

This exercise aligns with the government’s commitment to foster growth and development in the region.

During the visit, H E Maawali assessed the progress of the Dibba-Lima-Khasab road project. He visited the proposed route and met project managers to understand the challenges in its implementation in order to address the needs of Lima’s residents.

The inspection team also visited several beaches which will become accessible following completion of the road.

They considered alternate designs and solutions in the Khub al Shamsi area and discussed with government agencies how to overcome hurdles to establishment of contractor equipment sites in Khasab, Lima and Dibba.

These efforts mark the preparations for construction with the aim of involving local small and medium enterprises in the project and increasing local added value.

The inspection team also visited the Khor Najd-Kumzar road, where hurdles in the route and implementation plans were assessed. The officials focused on devising an execution strategy that includes the expertise of local companies familiar with the region’s topography. They also reviewed the Moh tunnel project plan and challenges in its implementation.

H E Maawali was updated on the operational progress at Khasab Port, now managed by Hutchison Sohar Company. He reviewed plans of operational enhancements and discussed future strategies for development of the port.
