Muscat – The second health leadership meeting under the chairmanship of H E Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, was held on Wednesday to review and follow-up on the health system across all governorates.

The meeting – with the undersecretaries, directors general of health services and directors of hospitals – addressed the health sector’s challenges and suggested solutions and initiatives in addition to health leadership projects.

H E Dr Sabti thanked all attendees for their efforts to raise the standard of the health services in the country, while working on the challenges facing the sector.

The minister stressed the need for cooperation of all to address these challenges in order to provide high-quality and efficient health services.

Dr Waleed bin Khamis al Nadabi, Director of Oman Vision 2040 Office at the Ministry of Health (MoH), highlighted the aspects and priorities of Oman Vision 2040, while focusing on the country’s public health priorities that demand straitegic goals and programmes, projects and initiatives as per the ministry’s plan for this year.

Dr Abdullah al Harthi, senior consultant in accident surgery, presented a paper on the national initiative to reduce the wait list for various surgeries in the sultanate.

Harthi addressed, in detail, the initiative’s success in reducing the wait list, specially pediatric surgery, in a number of governorates.

Engineer Khalid al Tamimi, Director of Information Technology in Dakhiliyah governorate and developer of the Nabd Al-Afiah programme and Queue Management System (QMS), reviewed the updated version of the two programmes.

The updated version of the Nabd Al-Afiah programme displays the work indicators directly from the health institutions in the country by using the data entered into Al-Shifa electronic system. Through this process, the decision-makers can intervene to solve any problem without effort and field visits.
Tamimi touched upon the QMS after its implementation in 22 health institutions in Dakhiliah, as well as at the emergency department of Khoula Hospital.
