His Majesty Sultan Haitham concludes Berlin visit setting stage for deeper and stronger Oman-German relations

Berlin, Germany – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik concluded a historic visit to Germany on Friday, opening a new phase in relations between the two countries.

The new phase in bilateral relations was set in motion by a landmark summit meeting between His Majesty the Sultan, Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The visit bodes well for further partnership in various spheres, notably economic, investments, renewable energy, green power, and scientific and cultural fields.

On Friday, His Majesty the Sultan was accorded an official reception at Bellevue Palace in Berlin. Later, His Majesty and President Steinmeier held a round of official talks where the latter expressed his delight at His Majesty’s visit to Germany. He hailed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

On his turn, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his appreciation for the hospitality accorded to him and his delegation. His Majesty commended the strong ties of friendship binding Oman and Germany. The talks dealt with scope of further cooperation and studied ways of upgrading ties in various spheres in a manner that meets the aspirations of their friendly peoples.

Meeting with Scholz

On Thursday, His Majesty the Sultan and Chancellor Scholz held a meeting. Upon His Majesty’s arrival at the chancellery, he was welcomed by the chancellor and senior German officials.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the German Chancellor to mark his visit.

During the banquet, His Majesty the Sultan and Chancellor Scholz reviewed the growing bilateral relations and discussed ways of upgrading existing cooperation and partnership to serve the common interests of the Omani and German peoples.

They also exchanged views on a variety of issues of common concern in the backdrop of developments in regional and international arenas.

His Majesty the Sultan also granted an audience to several German businessmen and company CEOs on Thursday. The meeting aimed to boost trade relations and promote investment opportunities between the two countries in various spheres.
