Muscat – H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, issued Decision No 262/2022 regarding regulations for supporting craft industries on March 24.

The new regulations include support for 20 handicraft industries, the definition of craftsmen and crafts institutions, the type of support provided, and the beneficiaries of the support.

The new decision supports handicraft industries, including those making Omani daggers, pottery and ceramics, products from leather, palm fronds, wood, stone and gypsum, making and processing incense and traditional fishing tools.

The new decision emphasises the formation of a specialised committee to provide all kinds of support to craftsmen, such as determining the financial support provided according to the needs of the craftsman or the craft institution in terms of machines, equipment and supplies.
