London, UK – H E Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met Liz Truss, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, in London on Monday.

Separately, H E Sayyid Badr headed the Omani delegation at a ministerial meeting between the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and the United Kingdom, which was also held on Monday.

The meeting with Secretary Liz touched on the historical ties binding the two countries. The two sides stressed their keenness to continue promoting bilateral relations in various fields. They also underlined their interest to promote joint cooperation, particularly in the economic and investment areas.

The two ministers exchanged views on various regional and international issues of common concern as they stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability in all parts of the world.

The meeting between the GCC ministers and the UK Secretary discussed topics on the agenda related to the promotion and follow-up of the action plan agreed upon between the GCC states and the UK, especially with regard to a free trade agreement between the two sides.

In order to strengthen Gulf-British relations, the ministers consulted on a number of projects aimed at deepening the partnership in various fields and to promote common interests and benefits that would lead to further prosperity.

They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues and developments of common interest and the ongoing endeavours to address crises through dialogue and political and peaceful means in order to achieve security and stability.
