Muscat – Omani aviation professional Sayyida Zayana bint Ali Al Said has been appointed chairperson of the board of directors of the Middle East and North Africa Society of Air Safety Investigators (MENASASI), strengthening Oman’s representation in regional aviation safety.

The appointment was announced by the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) and is expected to support regional cooperation, professional knowledge-sharing and capacity-building in the investigation of aircraft accidents and incidents.

Air safety investigators examine the causes and circumstances of accidents to identify safety risks and help prevent similar incidents. Their work plays a key role in improving aviation safety standards across the industry.

According to a press release, Sayyida Zayana’s appointment reflects the contribution of Omani professionals to international aviation organisations and provides an opportunity to deepen cooperation among investigators across the region.

Oman’s engagement with ISASI follows the approval of the country’s accession to the organisation by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers on November 17, 2020. The membership supports international cooperation and the development of national expertise in aviation safety.

MENASASI, established in 2013, is the regional branch of ISASI. It promotes professional links among air safety investigators, facilitates the exchange of technical knowledge and experience, and organises specialised programmes and seminars.

ISASI was founded in the United States in 1964 and works to advance the professional standards and practices of aviation accident investigation.
