Muscat – Oman is hosting the 8th meeting of the Safety Enhancement Implementation Group and the National Continuous Monitoring Coordinators meetings in Muscat from October 11 to 13, 2026.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is hosting the events in cooperation with the Middle East Regional Office of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Representatives from 13 countries including Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Jordan, and Nigeria are attending alongside officials from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The meetings discuss aviation safety performance, regional safety priorities, and decisions from the 13th Middle East Regional Aviation Safety Group meeting. Delegates are reviewing progress on safety enhancement initiatives within the Middle East Regional Aviation Safety Plan for 2026 to 2028, national aviation safety plans, state safety programmes, and updates on the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach.

Furthermore, national coordinators are sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices to strengthen regional cooperation and oversight capabilities.
