Muscat– The Oman Society of Astronomy and Space is marking World Space Week, which runs until October 10, to raise awareness of the contributions of space science and technology to everyday life, highlight scientific and technological advances in the sector, and encourage students and young people to take an interest in science and innovation.
This year’s observance is being held under the theme “Rocket Revolution”, highlighting the rapid advances in space launch technologies and their role in expanding access to space.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahad bint Rashid Al Hosni, Deputy Chairperson of the Space Sciences Committee at theOman Society of Astronomy and Space, said World Space Week provides an important opportunity to strengthen public awareness of the importance of space science and its applications.
She said the occasion also offers a platform to introduce the public to the transformations taking place in the space sector while encouraging students and young people to explore scientific and technological fields related to space.
The week aims to promote greater understanding of how space technologies are contributing to human development, while inspiring the younger generation to engage with emerging areas of science, technology and innovation.
