Khasab – Musandam is set to strengthen its tourism infrastructure with plans for an integrated tourism port in Khasab, aimed at supporting the governorate’s tourism sector and contributing to economic activity.

The proposal was discussed during the seventh meeting of the Musandam Municipal Council this year, chaired by  Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam and Chairman of the Municipal Council.

The proposed port forms part of a wider discussion on developing tourism facilities and improving services in the governorate, which is known for its distinctive coastline, mountainous landscape and strategic location.

The council also discussed proposed exemptions and incentives to support the tourism sector in Musandam amid the impact of regional developments on tourism activity. The proposed measures are intended to help strengthen the sector and support tourism-related businesses in the governorate.

Improving the sustainability and efficiency of roads was also among the issues discussed, alongside measures to address coastal erosion at Bassa Beach in Khasab.

The meeting further reviewed planning and development requirements in Dibba Wilayat, with discussions focusing on proposals aimed at improving services and meeting the area’s development needs.

The council stressed the importance of following up on the issues and proposals discussed during the meeting and coordinating with the relevant government authorities.

The proposed integrated tourism port in Khasab is part of broader efforts to develop Musandam’s tourism infrastructure and enhance the services available to visitors and tourism businesses. The initiative also reflects the council’s focus on supporting tourism and economic development while addressing infrastructure and service requirements across the governorate.

Further coordination with relevant authorities will determine the next steps for the proposal and its development.
