Lobster season opens in Oman

1 Oct 2026 Lobster season opens in Oman By MUSCAT DAILY CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Oman’s spiny lobster fishing season has opened and will continue until November 30, under regulations aimed at ensuring the sustainability of lobster stocks.

The seasonal controls are intended to regulate fishing activity and protect the marine resource while allowing fishermen to benefit from the fishery.

Oman produced around 645 tonnes of spiny lobster in 2025, with a total value of RO4.255mn, highlighting the species’ economic importance to the fisheries sector.

Fishermen are required to comply with the regulations governing the season and adopt responsible fishing practices to help preserve lobster stocks and support the long-term sustainability of the fishery.
