Salalah –  The second edition of the Oman Football Academies League (OFAL) in Dhofar Governorate will kick off on October 1, with eight academies set to compete in the three-day tournament organised by the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar.

The tournament will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, with Al Baleed, Al Dhahareez, Al Hisn, Al Ostoura, Al Ikhlas, Al Mustaqbal and Shabab Salalah academies confirmed to take part, along with one other academy whose name has not been announced.

The participating academies will be divided into two groups for the competition.

The Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar said the tournament aims to provide a sporting environment that helps develop players’ skills and identify promising football talent, while contributing to the development of a new generation of athletes.

The competition also seeks to promote the values of friendship, cooperation and fair play among the participating academies and teams, while creating opportunities for future cooperation among youth and sports professionals.

Meanwhile, the Directorate is continuing preparations for a number of sporting events at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

Among the upcoming events is a girls’ gymnastics championship, scheduled for September 30, followed by Physical Activity Day on October 26. The latter will bring together participants from various age groups, particularly young people, with the aim of promoting physical fitness and encouraging a culture of regular sporting activity within the community.
