Muscat – The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Sunday unveiled the design of its new headquarters in Madinat Al Irfan, Muscat, as it marked four years of achievements in supporting the private sector and strengthening its role in economic development.

The unveiling took place at the ‘Achievement Partners’ Forum, which also honoured the Chamber’s sectoral committees for their contributions to its work and objectives.

The event was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors, along with a number of Their Highnesses, Honourable Members and Their Excellencies, members of the OCCI Board of Directors, chairs and members of the sectoral committees, and the Chamber’s executive management.

Al Rawas said that during the Board’s 2022–2026 term, OCCI had drawn inspiration from the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to empower the private sector, strengthen its contribution to economic development and support the diversification of the national economy in line with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.

He said the achievements of the current term went beyond individual programmes and initiatives, reflecting institutional progress in the Chamber’s role and a coordinated effort to strengthen the competitiveness of the private sector, expand its opportunities and enable it to play a key role in economic development.

Al Rawas highlighted the Chamber’s improved financial sustainability, noting that its investment portfolio grew by 45% to RO67.1mn at the end of 2025, from RO46.4mn at the end of 2022 – an increase of approximately RO20.7mn.

He said the growth in the investment portfolio had strengthened the Chamber’s financial position and supported its ability to continue implementing programmes and initiatives aimed at serving the private sector.

The new headquarters, he said, was designed in response to the Chamber’s expanding role and services. The facility will provide a modern, integrated working environment, while enhancing the Chamber’s capacity to serve the private sector and host trade delegations and economic events.

Located in Madinat Al Irfan in Muscat Governorate, the new headquarters will form part of an integrated urban environment that includes business districts and key facilities. The building will feature smart workspaces and advanced conference and event halls, while its design aims to obtain the international LEED and WELL certifications for sustainability, indoor environmental quality and occupant wellbeing.

On the Chamber’s efforts to support economic development across Oman’s governorates, Al Rawas said its branches had been developed as economic platforms that remain close to business owners, identify their needs, connect them with government and private entities and investors, and promote the strengths and opportunities of each governorate.

From 2023 to April 2026, the branches carried out approximately 604 activities, including workshops, seminars, exhibitions, conferences and gatherings, and held 1,723 meetings with government and private entities and investors.

“From 2023 to June 2026, the Chamber oversaw efforts to strengthen engagement between the Omani business community and its counterparts abroad. It received 169 trade delegations, organised 58 outbound Omani trade delegations and participated in 76 local and international exhibitions,” Al Rawas said.

Zakariya bin Abdullah Al Saadi, Chief Executive Officer of the OCCI, said the Chamber had embarked on a new phase of institutional development at the beginning of its current term, based on clear strategic priorities.

“At the beginning of its current term, the Chamber set out to build a new phase of institutional work based on clear strategic priorities, directing its efforts towards improving the business environment, broadening the base of economic diversification, developing the governorates’ economies, embedding governance and accelerating digital transformation,” Al Saadi said.

He said the Chamber was entering a new phase of institutional transformation under an ambitious strategy approved by its Board of Directors. The strategy seeks to redefine the Chamber’s role and consolidate its position as a voice for the private sector, an active partner in shaping economic policies, and a platform for enhancing business competitiveness and developing investment opportunities.

Al Saadi said the strategy was based on an understanding of economic changes, the aspirations of businesswomen and businessmen, and the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
